BDP opens office in Morocco BDP International, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania a global logistics and transportation services provider, has opened an office in Casablanca. The new office is overseen by Country Manager Abderrahim Msaidi, who reports to Fikret Ersoy, BDP’s head of North Africa and Turkey. “Our customers based in Europe and the United States see Morocco as a safe harbor in North Africa with huge potential for additional business growth, and we recognize that opportunity for expansion,” Ersoy said. The Casablanca office will offer chemical/petrochemical, healthcare, energy, retail, oil and gas, and automotive industry customers with a wide array of services including: ocean/air export and import; export/import customs clearance; project logistics; ground transport; and warehousing/distribution. Casablanca Port is the largest in Morocco, handling about 21.3 CASABLANCA million tons of cargo per year. Oliver Group With the launch of its online store in the Czech Republic in May 2016 the s.Oliver Group hits the next milestone for its successful international expansion. The fashion retailer entrusted its longtime fulfillment partner, BFS Baur Fulfillment Solutions, with all fulfillment related services. BFS is providing customer service, logistics, and payment services for soliver.cz. As with previous international online stores, all processes have been customized for the target market: in contrast to German customers, Czech online customers prefer to pay via cash-on-delivery, for example. All communication with customers is conducted entirely in Czech. BFS also adjusted its enterprise resource system to track transactions in Czech Koruna (CZK). All pick-and-pack activities for national as well as international online orders of s.Oliver are handled at the BFS logistics center in Weismain, Germany, where BFS conducts warehousing services for the entire online inventory of s.Oliver. www.baur-fs.de DHL Global Forwarding adds Moscow and Russia’s major cities to Airfreight Plus network DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist of Deutsche Post DHL Group revamps its DHL Airfreight Plus service and increases its total reach to 54 countries by integrating Moscow and Russia’s major cities into the product’s network. The air freight solution provides customers with intra-European or intra-Asian door-to-door air transportation for cargo up to two tons. Businesses have access to more than 11,000 daily departures across Europe and Asia carried out by DHL’s owned fleet as well as commercial carriers. www.dpdhl.com WORLDWIDE NEWS Geodis and Delta Drone join forces to develop a solution for warehouse inventory using drones The logistics service provider Geodis and the enterprise Delta Drone just signed an agreement aimed at the joint development of an automated warehouse inventory solution based on the use of drones. An initial life-size test – a first in the logistics sector – carried at a Geodis warehouse in Saint- Ouen l’Aumône, near Paris. In the long term, the solution could be made available to the 300 warehouses managed by Geodis worldwide, representing six million square meters. www.geodis.com TNT expands international express service coverage in Spain TNT is expanding the coverage area of its international express delivery service in Spain, now offering next day delivery to and from an additional 1,300 postal codes. Thanks to the expansion, TNT now covers more than 90 percent of Spain’s businesses. This builds on recent improvements in TNT’s network operations in Spain, including additional pickup and delivery vehicles and rounds, additional direct linehaul routes, and the opening of a new international road transit hub in Madrid.
